The 401(k) Buyer's Guide serves two main purposes for financial executives:
- Assist in the review of current providers by offering insight into what is available
from other providers.
- Narrow the field of potential new providers for plan sponsors that are considering
a change or comparing costs and capabilities.
Dalbar has worked with CFO magazine since
1996 to produce the annual 401(k) Buyer's Guide. Each year CFO and DALBAR
update the content of the guide to remain current with the ever-changing 401(k)
market.
Preparation of the 401(k) Buyer's Guide includes:
- A review of the prior year's guide to determine changes among providers, regulations,
and industry practices, as well as other factors that should be incorporated.
- Completion of an extensive questionnaire by participating providers. Included in
this survey is an optional review of the provider's participant and plan-sponsor
Websites, which are rated based on the functions performed, usability, adaptability
to user behavior, consistency, and currency of information. (See Website Rating Details for more information.)
